The summer can be glamorous, with aesthetic rooftop bars in full swing and trips to the shore filling your weekend calendars. There is nothing like a summer going-out outfit and a little fun drink, after all. But the warmer months can also be sticky, overwhelming, and exhausting. Sometimes, after being around people constantly (especially those who forget what deodorant is), one desperately needs a secluded, rejuvenating wellness weekend.

A wellness weekend doesn’t need to be at some fancy minimalistic spa or a jungle retreat thousands of miles away. All you need to do is set aside a few days to stay home, put your phone on DND, and focus on yourself. Here are five things to do on a much-needed wellness weekend to help bring yourself back to your stunning, summer-loving self.

Everything Shower

The epitome of revitalization is an ‘everything shower’—the internet’s title for a lengthy shower devoted to self-care. It’s the time to do all the beauty tasks you've been putting off, like hair masks, shaving, exfoliating, and dermaplaning. It is a great way to kick-start your weekend and refresh.

Journal

With so many things happening during the summer, our brains can become an overwhelming jumble of thoughts, ideas, and emotions. Journaling is a great way to channel all that energy and express creativity. You can find inspiration for ‘junk journaling’ (collecting random items like business cards, stickers, and receipts to decorate pages) or introspective prompts on TikTok and Pinterest.

Yoga

You don't need a structured class or a fancy mat to utilize Yoga as a release. Yoga is a fantastic form of movement that relieves stress, improves mindfulness, and even builds better breathing practices. This aspect of your wellness weekend will keep you off your phone and allow you to concentrate on yourself, not what's happening on social media.

Make A New Playlist

Hans Christian Andersen once said, "Where words fail, music speaks,” and we couldn’t agree more. While relaxing in bed, catching up on the new season of The Bear or Bridgerton, spend some time curating a playlist that fits your daily life and moods. You can even get creative with the titles and covers!

Read

Although a self-care weekend is a great way to take a break from the outside world, sometimes you may need an even bigger escape—into a whole different world. Get a cup of tea, a new book, and a cozy spot to delve into a new adventure. You can find recommendations across many genres on Instagram or TikTok’s famous ‘Booktok. ’
