Why Pinterest Should Be Your Go-To Social Media For Inspiration

By: Kamilyah McMiller

Are you sick of  “doom scrolling” and want to make your boredom a more effective atmosphere? Pinterest is the one-stop media that gives no judgment. Plus, you can find creators with ideas and views similar to any aesthetic you could think of.

When most have thoughts about the platform, they think it’s just thousands of random photos or those tacky high-school spirit week outfits from 2012 (yes, the face paint as well). But, that’s only half of it. There are many topics ranging from home decor, style, recipes, and quotes to even character memes that have been forgotten. Searching for a trend you’re passionate about is a great place to start.

Unlike TikTok, there can be thousands of comments on a specific topic, but most comment areas on Pinterest are empty. Which makes your searches more seamless and peaceful compared to what everyone else thinks of those other apps. Also, this means there are more authentic pictures that others don’t typically display or the bloopers of their “perfect photo”. So, you can also be entertained by seeing the creative side of a creator without the chaos of a comment section.

Celebrities have also used the platform to showcase their natural state of being.
Jessica Alba  uses her account to post makeup tutorials, workouts, and cooking recipes that cater to everyone. Alba also promotes her line ‘Honest’ through facial products for children and women with sensitive skin throughout the Pinterest page. The beloved YouTuber, Emma Chamberlain, uses the platform to prioritize her generation with random pins of interior along with her unique style. Chamberlain also said, “Pinterest is my go-to…It’s the most positive social media platform I think that exists,” (NYLON). If the guru herself loves the platform, there’s no harm in posting what you want as well.

Adding Pinterest to your morning, night, or anything in-between routine (especially while watching your favorite movie) could make you feel more productive and relaxed. Creating vision boards with inspiration for your current setting could help reflect on your goals. Since the site can be accessed anywhere there are many opportunities to add or glance at any board you choose

So, on your next reset day, get your television, candles, blankets, and laptop to create your own (or next) trending Pinterest board!
